A Cold, Hard Truth: The Career Advice You Wouldn't Want to Hear

Writer: Sergey ShimanskySergey Shimansky

Here's a hard-cold truth for all of you BAs out there.

No one cares about your past achievements. No one cares about your yesterday's successes. No one.

Here's my career advice.

The only thing that truly matters to your client, delivery team, and stakeholders is what you can do for them today, and how you can solve their problem today.

Your previous experience, and the success story that you had with another client from the same industry or similar technology, even the fancy certificate that you have behind you—it may only open the door to the conversation.

But at the end of the day, you will be judged by how well you did your job:

  • in that specific meeting

  • during this particular sprint

  • for this team

  • on this project

  • and for this client.

Would you agree?
