Requirements Discovery
Enjoyable, Productive, and Fun!

As a business analyst, you know how working with a new group of stakeholders, learning a new business domain, or simply joining a new project team can feel overwhelming.

Even when you know all the elicitation techniques and have read tons of books, actually organizing and leading live or onsite stakeholder workshops, particularly with multiple groups of users, can make you feel anxious and intimidated, especially when you lack a solid plan.

I want you to know that you are not alone.

Back in 2010, I had my first taste of onsite requirements workshops as a Business Analyst. It was also my first business trip overseas, to Switzerland, and I was filled with excitement! However, my initial happiness quickly turned into panic. The elicitation workshops were attended by at least three Senior Directors who talked over each other and pursued their own agendas. We also figured that the client's solution architect was independently gathering requirements without sharing them with the rest of the team. It was absolute chaos!

Luckily, we had a strong leadership team that was able to bring order and planning to the sessions. Through several iterations, we managed to create a backlog of requirements for the initial product launch. It was hard, though! And most importantly, it made me wonder: should discovery sessions always be that crazy?

The Big Why

In my nearly two decades of working with numerous clients and leading multiple software discovery engagements, I've learned a crucial truth: requirements discovery requires a structured method.

This method implies approaching requirements discovery projects in three stages:

That's why I developed this course - to provide you with a straightforward and practical framework for running successful discovery workshops and elicitation sessions with stakeholders.
